Commercial

Ireland is playing its part in signing up to the Paris Climate 2030 agreement and indeed working with the European Commission in its stated goal “to be the first carbon neutral continent by 2050”.

Ambitious goals yes – but we can all play our part to contribute to positive climate action changes that will ensure a better environment for all.

In this regard energy efficiency and thus by default improving your carbon footprint will become an increasingly important goal for the owners and occupiers of commercial premises.

We in Energysmart are best placed to advise you on the steps to ensuring you get the best professional advice to help you achieve greater energy efficiency.

The first step in this process is the instruction for an Energy Audit to be carried out on your premises by one of our appointed assessors.

The objective of an Energy Audit is to:

  • Determine the energy performance of the premises
  • Identify and Quantify the Principal Energy flows
  • Identify & Quantify achievable energy savings
  • Make recommendations highlighting where improvements can be made, to raise energy efficiencies, reduce costs and last but certainly not least, best qualify you for Grant assistance.
  • Produce budgeted recommendations to achieve energy cost savings
  • Maximise grant allocation – up to 30% of capital cost subject to application criteria

We will review the Energy audit and make recommendations highlighting where improvements can be made, to raise energy efficiencies, reduce costs and last but certainly not least, best qualify you for Grant assistance. In turn we will manage the implementation process from planning permission (if required), installation of the proposed works and processing of the SEAI grant application. SEAI grant of up to 30% of capital cost available subject to application criteria.

The SEAI under the accelerated capital allowance scheme offer commercial enterprises a grant in the form of a tax write off of the capital cost of the energy saving upgrades, net of grant received, over one tax year as opposed to writing it off over a period of 8 years.

It is important to seek advice on the application of capital allowances from your own accountant but Energysmart will manage the SEAI grant application for you.

If you have any questions regarding potential energy savings and the grant assistance potentillay available please call us on 012542214 to speak to one of dedicated team of smart energy advisors.

Biomass

Biomass boilers use sustainable biomass fuel such as wood pellets or wood chips to generate heat, replacing the need for the burning of fossil fuels.

EU legislation dictates that Biomass users are expected to meet certain sustainability criteria in such a way as to show that the bioenergy generated will reduce emissions by 70 per cent or more as compared to fossil fuel options.

With the correct certified supply chains in place generating heat in Ireland through the use of Biomass boilers could have a significant impact on our carbon footprint and help us to meet future emissions targets.

To encourage businesses to switch from fossil fuels to Biomass the SEAI is offering assistance in the way of an installation grant and then on going operational support (feed in Tariff), to those enterprises that choose to do so.

Contact us today if you would like to know more about making the switch from a fossil fuel based heating system to a Biomass Boiler and the potential savings that can be made.
